Middle School Tennis League

Middle schoolers show off their skills after a recent Advantage Kids tournament held in Conway. The organizer of the event, Kent Hemingway, is hosting a five-week Middle School Team Tennis League in Laconia starting Tuesday, May 7, free for area fifth through eighth graders.

LACONIA – A free middle school tennis league is being offered to 5th-8th graders. Advantage Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing youth tennis and education, hosts this team tennis experience on Tuesdays in May from 3:30-5:30 PM at Laconia’s Memorial Field tennis courts.

The program is being offered free of charge. Transportation from schools to the courts is available for Laconia, Belmont, Gilford, and Meredith players, though parents or guardians are responsible for transport home.

Last year, twenty-five middle schoolers participated in the program. This year, the same number of kids are expected.

This is the second year of the Advantage Kids sponsored program, run by certified tennis coach Kent Hemingway.

“Last year we had a lot of fun out there,” Hemingway said, “and I’m looking forward to another great session!”

Registration is still open for the five-week series, which runs on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-5:30, May 7th through June 4th. Interested 5th-6th graders can register through Laconia Parks and Rec or by emailing Kent Hemingway at Hemingway.k@gmail.com.

All materials, including racquets, are provided at no cost.
